Joining Paul and Silas at Lystra on the second missionary journey (Acts 16:1–3), young Timothy became Paul's most trusted delegate in Ephesus, Corinth, and Philippi. In Paul's final letter before martyrdom (2 Timothy 4:9–11), Paul urged Timothy to come quickly before winter and bring John Mark with him — uniting Paul's two greatest spiritual sons at the finish line.
