Zerubbabel
Davidic prince and governor of Judah who led the first exiles home from Babylon alongside Joshua the High Priest, rebuilt the Temple's foundation, and was declared God's chosen 'signet ring.'
Grandson of King Jeconiah and son of Shealtiel, Zerubbabel led nearly 50,000 returning exiles back to Jerusalem in 538 BC and partnered with Joshua the High Priest to rebuild the altar and Second Temple (Ezra 2:1–2; Ezra 3:2). To him God spoke the famous promise in Zechariah 4:6–7 — 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts' — and chose him as a royal signet ring in the Messianic line (Haggai 2:23; Matthew 1:12–13).
