Mary Magdalene
Delivered by Jesus from seven demons, faithful witness at the cross, and first herald of the empty tomb at dawn on the Feast of Firstfruits.
From the fishing town of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee, Mary was healed by Jesus of seven demons and supported His ministry out of her own means (Luke 8:2–3). Standing near the cross when most had fled (John 19:25), she bought aromatic spices when the Sabbath was past and walked to the garden tomb very early on the first day of the week — the exact morning the High Priest in the Temple was preparing to wave the Firstfruits sheaf.
Finding the heavy stone rolled away and encountering the risen Jesus in the garden when He called her by name ('Mary!'), she was commissioned to go to the brothers and announce, 'I have seen the Lord' (Mark 16:1–6; John 20:1–18).
The Waved Sheaf — The Empty Tomb, The Tabernacle Altar & The Firstfruits Sheaf
Jesus rises on the exact morning of Firstfruits as the High Priest waves the golden barley sheaf to guarantee the harvest.
