Mary, Mother of Jesus
The virgin of Nazareth who answered Gabriel 'Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word,' bore the Son of God in Bethlehem, stood at the foot of the cross, and prayed with the 120 in the Upper Room.
Visited in Nazareth by the angel Gabriel, young Mary surrendered her life to God's promise and sang the Magnificat, rejoicing in God her Savior (Luke 1:26–55). Giving birth to Jesus in Bethlehem (Luke 2:7), she treasured God's word in her heart, stood beside the cross where Jesus entrusted her to the beloved disciple John (John 19:25–27), and gathered with the 120 believers in the Upper Room awaiting the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 1:14).
