Orpah
Moabite widow of Chilion and sister-in-law of Ruth who wept on the road to Bethlehem and kissed Naomi goodbye, returning to her people and her gods while Ruth clung to Naomi.
Widowed in Moab alongside her sister-in-law Ruth, Orpah set out with Naomi on the road back to Judah and wept aloud when Naomi urged them to return to Moab. At the crossroads of decision, 'Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her' — returning to her people while Ruth walked on into the Messianic lineage (Ruth 1:4–15).
