Pharaoh of the Exodus
The defiant monarch of Egypt who asked 'Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice?' and hardened his heart through nine plagues until the midnight Passover broke his throne.
Refusing Moses and Aaron's demand to let God's people go, Pharaoh increased Israel's brick quota without straw and hardened his heart against nine supernatural plagues (Exodus 5–10). Only on the night of the Passover, when every house without the lamb's blood on the doorposts lost its firstborn, did Pharaoh summon Moses by night to drive Israel out — before pursuing them to his own destruction in the Red Sea (Exodus 12:29–32; Exodus 14:23–28).
