Bathsheba
Daughter of Eliam, widow of Uriah the Hittite, and queen mother of King Solomon — through whom God redeemed a tragic royal failure into the Messianic line of Christ.
Taken by King David in 2 Samuel 11 after the murder of her righteous husband Uriah the Hittite, Bathsheba grieved the loss of her first child before giving birth to Solomon, whom the LORD loved and named Jedidiah (2 Samuel 12:24–25). Later intervening before aged David to secure Solomon's succession against Adonijah (1 Kings 1:15–31), she is honored in Matthew 1:6 and Luke 3:31 as ancestral mother in the lineage of Jesus.
