The Beast from the Sea
The composite tyrannical empire rising out of the sea in Revelation 13:1–10 — combining the leopard, bear, and lion of Daniel 7 with a mortally wounded head that parodies Christ's resurrection — before being seized and cast alive into the Lake of Fire.
Rising out of the churning sea of nations with ten horns and seven heads bearing blasphemous names, the Beast from the Sea combines the four empires of Daniel 7 into one final totalitarian power: like a leopard, with feet like a bear's, and a mouth like a lion's, empowered by the Dragon (Revelation 13:1–2). One of its heads seems to have a mortal wound that was healed — a counterfeit imitation of the Lamb who was slain and lived — causing the unsealed world to marvel, 'Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?' (Revelation 13:3–4). Its boasted invincibility ends instantly in Revelation 19:20 when it is captured and thrown alive into the Lake of Fire.
