Deborah
The prophetess and judge who held court under the Palm of Deborah, arose as 'a mother in Israel' against twenty years of Canaanite oppression, marched up Mount Tabor beside General Barak, and declared the exact moment the LORD went out before Israel.
During twenty brutal years in which Canaanite King Jabin and General Sisera oppressed Israel with 900 chariots of iron until village life ceased and highways were abandoned, Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel (Judges 4:1–5; Judges 5:6–7).
Summoning General Barak from Kedesh-naphtali with the word of the LORD to gather 10,000 men on Mount Tabor, Deborah agreed immediately when Barak refused to march without her spiritual covering ('I will surely go with you,' Judges 4:6–9). Standing atop Mount Tabor as Sisera's 900 iron chariots deployed along the Kishon River below, Deborah gave the battle cry — 'Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?' — and heaven unleashed a torrential cloudburst that bogged every iron chariot in the mud (Judges 4:14–15; Judges 5:4, 20–21).
