The Levites of Beth-shemesh
The Israelite harvesters and Levites in the valley of Beth-shemesh who lifted their eyes from reaping wheat to see the Ark returning on the driverless cart — rejoicing with burnt offerings before learning the holy reverence due God's throne.
Reaping their wheat harvest in the border valley of Beth-shemesh when the two lowing cows pulled the new cart straight from Ekron without a human driver, the people of Beth-shemesh rejoiced to see the Ark of the LORD! The Levites took down the Ark, split the wood of the cart, and offered the cows as a burnt offering on the great stone of Abel — though some men of Beth-shemesh later presumed to look inside the Ark and cried out, 'Who is able to stand before the LORD, this holy God?' (1 Samuel 6:13–20).
The Fallen Idol — The Fallen Idol
The captured Ark is placed beside Dagon in Ashdod — and twice the idol falls face down, the second time losing its head and hands.
