The Widow's Two Sons
The two young brothers legally claimed as bondservants by the creditor — who gathered hollow clay jars from every neighbor and handed them to their mother behind the shut door until their ransom was paid in full.
Threatened with lifelong debt slavery after their prophet father's death (2 Kings 4:1), the two sons joined their mother in radical obedience to Elisha's word. Scouring the neighborhood for every empty jar and basin they could carry, they stood behind the closed door handing empty vessels to their mother one after another until the last jar brimmed with golden olive oil — witnessing firsthand the price of their freedom poured out before their eyes (2 Kings 4:3–7).
The Empty Jars — The Bankrupt Widow, The Creditor & Elisha's Multiplying Oil
