The Widow with the Jars of Oil
The bankrupt widow of a faithful prophet who obeyed Elisha by borrowing empty vessels from all her neighbors, shutting her door, and pouring from a single flask until every jar overflowed with ransom oil.
Left destitute after the death of her God-fearing husband from the company of the prophets, this unnamed mother faced a ruthless crisis: the creditor had arrived to take her two sons as slaves (2 Kings 4:1). Crying out to Elisha and asked 'What do you have in the house?', she confessed she had nothing left except a single small jar of olive oil (2 Kings 4:2).
Obeying Elisha's word, she sent her sons to borrow empty vessels from every neighbor — 'not too few' — shut the door behind herself and her sons, and poured. The oil flowed non-stop until the very last borrowed vessel was full to the brim, paying off her entire legal debt and sustaining her family on the rest (2 Kings 4:3–7).
