Huldah the Prophetess
The authoritative covenant prophetess in Jerusalem's Second Quarter whom King Josiah's high priest and court officials consulted to verify the rediscovered Book of the Law — proclaiming both righteous judgment on idolatry and tender mercy on Josiah's penitent heart.
Living in the Second Quarter (Mishneh) of Jerusalem as wife of Shallum the keeper of the wardrobe (2 Kings 22:14), Huldah possessed such recognized spiritual authority that when the lost scroll of Moses was unearthed, King Josiah sent High Priest Hilkiah and his top officials directly to her door.
Speaking with the fearless formula 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel,' Huldah confirmed that every curse written in the scroll would fall upon unrepentant Jerusalem — yet delivered a personal word of grace to the king: 'Because your heart was penitent, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard how I spoke... and you have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the LORD' (2 Kings 22:15–20).
