While counting the silver brought into the house of the LORD to pay the carpenters, builders, and masons during Josiah's temple restoration, High Priest Hilkiah made a discovery that shook the kingdom: 'I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the LORD' (2 Kings 22:8). Handing the scroll to Shaphan the scribe, he later led the royal delegation to consult the prophetess Huldah and helped purge every pagan vessel from the sanctuary (2 Kings 22:14; 2 Kings 23:4).
