Mephibosheth (son of Jonathan)
Lame son of Crown Prince Jonathan and grandson of Saul — fetched from Lo-debar by King David, restored to Saul's ancestral land, and seated continually at the King's table for Jonathan's sake.
Five years old when news of Saul and Jonathan's deaths came from Jezreel, Mephibosheth was dropped by his fleeing nurse and became lame in both feet (2 Samuel 4:4). Years later, asking 'Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness (Hesed) for Jonathan's sake?', King David summoned him from Lo-debar, seated him at the royal table like one of the king's sons, and spared him during the Gibeonite restitution because of the LORD's oath between David and Jonathan (2 Samuel 9:1–13; 2 Samuel 21:7).
