Abraham
Father of the covenant nation and head of the Messianic genealogy — who split the altar wood before dawn, climbed Mount Moriah for three days with his promised son Isaac, and named the mountain Jehovah Jireh.
Called out of Ur of the Chaldeans to walk by faith into an unseen inheritance (Genesis 12:1–3), Abram was renamed Abraham ('Father of a Multitude') and waited until age 100 for the birth of his miracle son Isaac through Sarah (Genesis 17:5; Genesis 21:1–5).
Tested by God's midnight command — 'Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah' — Abraham rose early in the morning, split the firewood himself, and walked a silent three-day climb of obedience (Genesis 22:1–4). When the Angel of the LORD stayed his raised knife and revealed a ram caught by its horns in a thicket, Abraham offered the ram instead of (Hebrew: tachath) his son and named the ridge 'The LORD Will Provide' (Genesis 22:10–14) — the very mountain range where God's own Son would later bear the cross.
The Raised Knife — Abraham, Isaac & The Two Sons Bound Upon the Wood of Moriah
Abraham and Isaac climb Mount Moriah with the heavy wood upon the son's shoulders until two weapons hang suspended in the air.
The True Ram — The Knife Stopped on Moriah, The Hammer Dropped on Golgotha & The Substitute in the Thorns
An angel stops Abraham's knife and reveals a ram in the thicket, while on Golgotha the hammer falls on God's own Son in our place.
