Isaac
The miracle son of Abraham and Sarah who carried the altar wood up Mount Moriah, asked 'Where is the lamb for a burnt offering?', and was spared when God provided the ram in the thicket.
Born to hundred-year-old Abraham and ninety-year-old Sarah as the child of promise (Genesis 21:1–3), Isaac grew into a young man strong enough to carry the heavy bundle of split firewood up the steep slopes of Mount Moriah (Genesis 22:6). Walking beside his father, he asked the haunting question of the Old Testament: 'Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?' (Genesis 22:7).
Willingly submitting to be bound upon the altar wood, Isaac was spared at the last second when the Angel of the LORD called from heaven and pointed to the ram caught in the thicket — making Isaac a living prophetic shadow of Jesus Christ, who carried His own wooden crossbeam up the same ridge and rose from death (Genesis 22:9–14; Hebrews 11:19).
