Hebrew: Shammah — 'Astonishment / Desolation (to the enemy)'
2 Samuel 23:11
To a coward it looked like 'just a patch of beans,' but to Shammah that lentil plot was covenant territory that belonged to the people of God — and he refused to give the enemy a single inch.
📜 Complete Scriptural Narrative
Trained alongside David in the wilderness caverns of Adullam (1 Samuel 22:1–2), Shammah son of Agee the Hararite stood as the third member of 'The Three.' When the Philistines gathered in force at Lehi where there was a plot of ground full of lentils and the troops fled in panic, Shammah planted his feet right in the middle of the plot, defended it, and struck down the Philistines — 'and the LORD worked a great victory' (2 Samuel 23:11–12).
